Soccer, Volleyball Publications Win National Awards
BATON ROUGE – With teams soon reporting back to campus for preseason practice ahead of the 2017 season, LSU’s soccer and volleyball teams were recently honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America for producing two of the nation’s top media guides for their respective sports in 2016.
The 2017 CoSIDA Publications and Digital Design contest award winners in the University and College divisions were announced as part of the organization’s annual convention in Orlando, Florida, last month.
While both media guides were recognized with CoSIDA’s “Best Cover” award in their respective categories for their graphic design work, the 2016 LSU Soccer Media Guide was voted “Best in the Nation” as the leading soccer media in the University division and last year’s LSU Volleyball Media Guide earned a No. 2 national ranking among its sport peers.
LSU Soccer’s 85-page media guide was written and edited by Associate Communications Director Will Stafford with its graphic design work completed by Creative Service Coordinators Clint Self and Amanda Qutby. The soccer media guide cover featured three-time All-SEC forward Summer Clarke, a former Canadian Women's National Team member who ended her collegiate career last fall as one of the most decorated Tigers in the program's history.
The 101-page volleyball media guide was written and edited by Associate Communications Director Brandon Berrio with editorial assistance from associate director Clyde Verdin and Qutby providing the graphic design. The volleyball media cover featured last year's team and its adopted "All For LSU" campaign used in 2016.
Both publications serve as the comprehensive source of information for LSU’s soccer and volleyball teams under the direction of long-serving head coaches Brian Lee and Fran Flory, including coach and player bios, the history and traditions of each program, seasonal and historical statistics and historical notes and records.
