Nistrup Posts 68 In Final SEC Round

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU senior golfer Caroline Nistrup birdied four  holes of her last eight holes on her last time as a collegiate around Greystone Country Club’s Legacy Course as she posted a 4-under 68 to close out the 2017 SEC Women’s Golf Championship.

Nistrup posted rounds of 73-72-68 to finish at 3-under par 213 and in a tie for 13th place. Nistrup played the final 33 holes of the tournament at 6-under par.

Sophomore Kathleen Gallagher also completed an outstanding SEC event with a second straight under par round, this time a 71. Gallagher had two birdies on her round. She played the last 31 holes in four-under par as she finished at 2-under par 214 and in a group T17.

The Lady Tigers had one of their best rounds of the season to close out the event, shooting 1-under par 287 to close out the tournament at 9-over par 873. LSU remained in eighth place at the end of the day, but still closed out the event on a high note.

Florida was the 2017 SEC Championship with a 54-hole total of 22-under par 842 after shooting 10-under on the final day. No. 1 Alabama made a big move with a 13-under round to finish at 9-under 855, moving from seventh to a tie for second with Georgia.

On the final day, LSU also counted a 73 from senior Lana Hodge and a 75 from freshman Monica Dibildox. Hodge finished at 5-over par 221 and T33.

Nistrup, ranked 87th in the Golfstat performance rankings, played the best of anyone in the field in the par four holes at 6-under par. Hodge and Gallagher were among those playing the par 3s the best at 2-under. Gallagher led LSU on the par 5 holes at 4-under par.
