BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The LSU women’s golf team posted a good round of 6-over 294 and stands in ninth place after the first round of the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championship at the Greystone Legacy Course Friday.

The second round is set for an 8 a.m. start on Saturday.

Texas A&M is the first round team leader at 6-under par 282, one shot ahead of Arkansas at 283 and Florida at 284. Half the field was under par as South Carolina posted 2-under 286 and Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt were at 1-under 287.

The Lady Tigers, first on the course Friday, got off to a great start, turning at 4-under par before beginning to make a few mistakes on the final nine. But LSU counted no score higher than 3-over on the day as the counting four scores played consistently over the par 72 layout.

Senior Caroline Nistrup, sophomore Kathleen Gallagher and freshman Monica Dibildox all had 1-over 73s and senior Lana Hodge posted a 3-over 75 for the counting scores.

Gallagher did a great job getting her round back in line early after double bogeying the opening hole of the tournament, she came back with an eagle on the par 5 third to get back to even par. Gallagher and Dibildox had three birdies on their first 18 holes, while Nistrup was one under on two holes.

The trio finished the day in a group T27. Three players are tied for the early individual lead at 4-under par 68.
