Nistrup Continues Great Play In Arizona For LSU

TEMPE, Ariz. – LSU senior Caroline Nistrup put herself in great position to post a top 10 finish when she finished her second straight under par round Saturday at the PING/ASU Invitational on the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

Nistrup followed up Friday’s 1-under 71 with a 2-under 70 on Saturday to finish at 3-under 141. That puts her T6 after 36 holes going into the Sunday finale.

Nistrup started on the 10th hole and parred the first 11 holes of the second round. She then went birdie, bogey, birdie on the third, fourth and fifth holes to get to 1-under and then a birdie on her 18th hole, the ninth on the course finished her round.

Nistrup moved up four spots to sixth on the second day and moved up on the lead as first-round lead Monica Vaughn of Arizona State shot even par 72 on Saturday to remain at 8-under for 36 holes, five shots in front of the LSU player.

As a team, LSU improved two strokes and moved up one position on the day, shooting 5-over 293 to finish 36 holes at +12 588, tied with SMU.

Besides Nistrup, the Lady Tigers counted 2-over 74s from freshman Monica Dibildox and senior Lana Hodge and 3-over 75 by junior Sydney Cavin.

LSU is the tournament leader in pars made at 122, while Nistrup was 1-under on the par 4s and -3 on the par 5s to date. Nistrup was +1 on the par 3 holes.

Nistrup has 27 pars on the 36 holes and Cavin has 26, putting them in the top six of the field. Nistrup leads LSU with six birdies.
