BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 10 LSU softball team got timely hits and a one-hitter in the circle from Allie Walljasper to earn a 4-1 win over Mississippi State to earn its second-straight sweep of an SEC opponent Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge.

LSU (31-7, 7-2 SEC) ran its winning streak to nine games, sweeping back-to-back league opponents for the first time since the final two SEC weekends of last season. The win improved the team’s record at home to 22-2, winning each of the last 10 at Tiger Park.

After a weather delay pushed the start of the game back 30 minutes, the two sides took the finale and proved to be a close, tense affair early leading to a 1-1 knotted score. However, the Tigers would get the key hits when it needed, scoring in the bottom of the third and plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it a three-score game, one Mississippi State (26-12, 2-7) would not be able to threaten.

LSU produced seven hits on the afternoon, led by senior Constance Quinn who was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored, followed by Amanda Doyle who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. The duo helped produce three of LSU’s runs four runs all with two outs on the board, as Shemiah Sanchez drove in the other on her only hit of the afternoon. In all, LSU was 4-for-10 with two outs and 4-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Walljasper (11-1) threw 5.1 complete innings of no-hit softball, suffocating the Bulldog offense from the jump as the only run that came in for MSU was due to an error in the third, finishing the game with three strikeouts and two walks on 103 total pitches. The junior now sports an ERA of 0.97 on the season.

Cassady Knudson (5-3) suffered the loss as she gave up two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking three. She was the first of three total MSU pitchers to see action on the day, with game one starter Alexis Silkwood came on in the fifth and allowed two runs on three hits and Saturday starter Holly Ward pitching the final inning giving up just a single hit. auns four runs tlped produce LSU'U2-for-3 led by senior Constance Quinn who was it needed, plating a pair of runs osa against No

The Game Turned When…

After Mississippi State tied the game in the top half of the inning, LSU took to the bottom of the third and after an out got an infield single to reach first. After stealing second, a foul out to right allowed her to tag up and advance to third. A walk to Sanchez put runners at the corners, as Quinn singled to right to give LSU the lead back at 2-1. LSU went on to score two more runs in the fifth to extend its lead.
