Hodge Paces LSU On First Day Of Rucker

HILTON HEAD, South Carolina – Senior Lana Hodge posted an even par 71 to lead the LSU Lady Tigers in the first round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Friday at the Long Cove Club.

Hodge, sophomore Kathleen Gallagher and senior Caroline Nistrup all had rounds that put them in the top 21 after 18 holes heading into Saturday’s second round.

LSU is in a group tied for ninth in the tournament at 12-over 296 on a day when defending champion Alabama was the only team to post a team score under par of 2-under 282. The Crimson Tide is four shots ahead of Duke at 2-over 286 with Arizona State third at 4-over 288.

The Lady Tigers are one of four teams at 12-over joining North Carolina, Oklahoma State and Wake Forest.

Hodge is in a group T9 after the opening round with her four-birdie round on the par 71 layout. The most birdies any player in the field had was five.

The individual leaders are Gurbani Singh of Duke, Cheyenne Knight of Alabama, Sophia Zeeb of Arizona State and Kristen Gillman of Alabama who all shot 3-under 68.

Gallagher posted 1-over par 72 with two birdies and is a group T15, while Nistrup had a four-birdie round of 2-over 73 and is T21. Sydney Cavin had LSU’s other counting round of 9-over 80.
