Celaya-Hernandez Takes Three-Meter at Invite

AUBURN, Ala.- Juan Celaya-Hernandez captured gold on three-meter to secure his second-straight victory for the LSU diving team on day two of the Auburn Diving Invitational at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
The team will return to the pool on Sunday for platform diving on the final day of the Invitational with the event slated to start at 11 a.m. CT.
"What I like about what I'm seeing at this meet is that we're hungry and competing well," said head diving coach Doug Shaffer. "We're not totally polished as a whole, but I'm satisfied with the progress we're making as we refine the details."
For the women, Lizzie Cui tallied another second place finish in the championship round on one-meter with a score of 301.10. Makayla Robillard grabbed sixth overall after recording a finish of 273.85.
On the men’s side, Celaya-Hernandez dove to a victory on three-meter in the championship final after finishing with a score of 391.05. On the season, Celaya-Hernandez remains undefeated on three-meter in the final rounds.
In the consolation final, Matt McClellan capped off the day for the team after placing second overall with a finish of 322.15.
"Our consistency will improve as we move forward with the season," said Shaffer. "These meets are essential for us, and I look to finish strong tomorrow on our final day."
