Braxton, Stauber Earn State's Top XC Honors
Communications Student Assistant
Braxton and Stauber were both first-team selections for their respective genders in the state, and Stauber was also awarded as the Women’s Freshman of the Year for her efforts. This marks Braxton’s second-consecutive season with LSWA First-Team All-Louisiana honors.
Braxton ended his sophomore campaign on a strong note as he finished 11th in the NCAA South Central Regional. He finished one spot away from a shot to compete in the NCAA Championships. His 11th-place finish in the regional was good enough to earn him a spot on the NCAA All-South Central Region Team.
Braxton was a top-three finisher in the Rice Invitational, LSU Invitational and A&M Invitational, placing third individually in all three races. Braxton also paired with senior Blair Henderson to earn second place as a team in the McNeese 6K Relays to open the season.
Stauber often led the women’s team as she was the top Lady Tiger in four different races this season. Stauber started her freshman season off in a successful manner as she teamed with sophomore Erika Lewis to take home first place in the McNeese 6K Relays.
Individually, Stauber collected two top-20 finishes in the Rice invitational and the Texas A&M Invitational where Stauber placed eighth and 15th, respectively. Stauber marked her best time at the Rice Invitational, recording a time of 14 minutes, 45.69 seconds on their 4k course.
