Wednesday night hitting is an opportunity for local softball players to tune up their fundamental skills and work with current LSU softball staff and athletes. Once a month hitters will have the chance to develop their skills in both hitting for power and slapping. The LSU softball staff will coach on hitting philosophies, how to increase power, how to be a mentally strong hitter, and how to be a diverse hitter. Each month will have a specific plan for athletes to focus on with multiple progression drills to take home. The month of September will begin with learning pitch recognition and correct contact points for specific pitches. We will lead into October with a focus on power, bat speed, and exit velocity. Once the base of our swing is developed, November will be geared around live at bats and ball flight off the bat. We will wrap up our fall clinic up in December with developing a strong mental game and in pitch routine.

* All groups will be split by age & ability to ensure the best learning environment possible

September Fall Camp

Ages: 7-18
Cost: $125

Fall camp is a chance to train like our Tigers. Campers will be working with our current LSU softball staff and athletes to develop into a stronger, quicker, and more powerful athlete. Camp will be divided into two sessions, a defense/pitching session and offense session. Join us for one portion or the entire day!

Defense/Pitching session: Pitchers will work on improving spin, accuracy, and power with head coach, Beth Torina, and All-American Allie Walljasper, as well as current LSU pitchers. Catchers will get time with assistant coach, Lindsay Leftwich and team to become better blockers, framers, and receivers. Position campers will spend time with assistant coaches, Howard Dobson and Sandra Simmons, focusing on proper throwing mechanics and position specific skill work.

Offense session: Hitters will be led by some of the best minds in our state. Hitters and slappers will build a strong base for the swing with an emphasis on fundamentals of the swing. Skill work will be broken down by lower half, hand path, contact points, and extension. All campers will hit live in Tiger Park with feedback from a LSU softball staff member.

* All groups will be split by age & ability to ensure the best learning environment possible
* Pitchers will NOT need to provide a catcher

December Pre-Holiday Winter Camp:

Dates: December 15-16, 2018
Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (See also "Nighttime Hitting & Pitching Clinic Add-On" below)
Ages: 8-18
Cost: $285
Flyer: Click here

Hitting camp will consist of skill work in the morning and LIVE-AT-BATS off of pitchers in the afternoon. The skill work will focus on contact points, vision, pitch recognition, bat speed and launch angle, and more. Hitters will have the opportunity to transfer the skills learned in the morning session to live-at-bats off of the pitchers in Tiger Park. During the afternoon session, hitters will take an in-depth look at the mental side of hitting, study keys to situational hitting, and learn different approaches for different pitchers and pitches. This camp gives athletes the unique chance to take their game to a higher level with more advanced information.

Pitching camp will consist of learning drills specifically targeted for each age/ability level during the morning and throwing to live hitters in the afternoon. During the morning session, pitchers will learn skills to improve spin, accuracy, and power. Pitchers will have the opportunity to transfer these skills directly into live play during the Live At-Bat afternoon session. Live At-Bats against hitters will offer pitchers a chance to learn how to set up a hitter up during an at bat, the “Ins & Outs” of controlling the strike zone, and the mental side of being in the circle. This camp opens a great learning environment as it offers a unique opportunity to face live hitters without the stress of consequences, wins or losses.

* All groups will be split by age & ability to ensure the best learning environment possible
* Pitchers will NOT need to provide a catcher

Dates: January 12-13, 2019
Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Ages: 8-18, $285

You can expect January Elite Camp to educate, motivate, and transform athletes and coaches by current LSU softball staff, current & former LSU athletes, National Pro Fastpitch players, professional clinicians, and top college coaches from across the country. Our goal is to spread as much skill instruction and fundamental drills as possible in the two days of working together for a unique experience.

Hitting sessions will offer drills and philosophies aimed at creating power, recognizing pitches, improving plate approach (contact points & vision) while working on the mental game.

Defensive sessions will be broken up by position and will cover proper footwork, angles, range, overhand throwing techniques in order to prevent injury, and other skills that will mimic an LSU Softball Team practice.

Pitching sessions will be broken up by specific pitch and focus on the entire fundamental base of each pitch. From there advanced skills and spin will be taught through spin drills, body position, & live throwing. Strength and core will also be a major focus for the upper age groups in order to work on creating speed and power. In the afternoon, pitchers will throw to catchers with the aim of transferring the skills to full pitching.
