FORT WORTH, Texas – The sixth-ranked LSU gymnastics team posted a 196.750 to place second in the Metroplex Challenge Saturday night in the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena.

Oklahoma won the team title with a 197.550, while Washington finished third with a 196.175, Stanford was fourth at 196.075 and Missouri was fifth with a 195.825.

For the second straight week, LSU junior Ashleigh Gnat scored a perfect 10.0 on her double-twisting Yurchenko vault. Gnat is the fifth LSU gymnast to score multiple perfect 10s on vault in a career, and she is the third LSU gymnast in program history to score a 10 on the same event in back-to-back meets, joining Jennifer Wood (vault in 1994 and 1995) and Lloimincia Hall (floor in 2015).

As a team LSU (6-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) posted the highest vault total of the meet with a 49.450, and the Tigers scored a 49.325 on bars, a 48.600 on beam and a 49.375 on floor.

Gnat won the vault title with her 10, the sixth vault crown of her career. Gnat also won the beam title with a 9.925, the seventh beam title of her career.

“This is another learning experience and something that will be a turning point for us,” LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. “We rallied together and picked up momentum in the last two events. I was very pleased with our ladies’ response after beam, and I am proud of this team.”

After LSU had a bye in the first rotation, the Tigers posted a 49.325 on bars, the second-highest bars total of the season. Sarah Finnegan and Shae Zamardi tied for the team high with 9.90s, followed closely by Lexie Priessman’s 9.875 and Myia Hambrick’s 9.85. Jessica Savona’s 9.80 also added to the team score.

The Tigers ran into trouble in the third rotation when they counted a fall on beam to finish with a 48.600. Gnat anchored the event to tie for the beam title with a 9.925. LSU also counted a 9.85 from Hambrick, a 9.75 from Michelle Gauthier, a 9.725 from Erin Macadaeg and a 9.35 from Finnegan.

LSU showed its resolve and bounced back in a big way on floor with a 49.375, highlighted by 9.90s from Finnegan and Gnat. Randii Wyrick provided a 9.875, and Sydney Ewing and McKenna Kelley tallied 9.85s to round out the scoring.

The Tigers closed out the meet with a season-high 49.450 on vault, led by Gnat’s perfect 10 and a 9.90 from Ewing. Hambrick recorded a 9.875, Macadaeg led off with a 9.85 and Finnegan scored a 9.825 to add to the Tigers total.

LSU returns to the friendly confines of the Maravich Center on Friday when the Tigers take on top-10 ranked Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets to the meet are available online at
