BATON ROUGE – Fans can get a first look at the 2016 LSU gymnastics team at the third-annual ‘Gymnastics 101’ Showcase Event Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT inside the Maravich Center.

Admission is free, and the event is expected to last one hour.

The event serves as a gymnastics showcase and an exhibition meet as the Tigers will run through expanded lineups on vault, bars, beam and floor, and judges will score the routines and performances as they would in a regular-season meet.

“I’m expecting the ladies to go out there and have a great time,” LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. “They have been very relaxed in practice and looking forward to this event. They are really excited and anxious about getting out in front of their home crowd.”

Gymnastics 101 will be LSU fans’ first opportunity to see the 2016 squad that features nine returning letterwinners, including six All-Americans in Sydney Ewing, Ashleigh Gnat, Myia Hambrick, Jessica Savona, Randii Wyrick and Shae Zamardi. Other letterwinners include Michelle Gauthier, Erin Macadaeg and Kylie Moran.

New additions to the team include sophomore transfer Lauren Li and freshmen Julianna Cannamela, Sarah Finnegan, McKenna Kelley, Lexie Priessman and Kaitlyn Szafranski.

“There’s no place better to do gymnastics than in the PMAC, so we are excited for the university to give us the opportunity to get in there and compete,” Breaux said.

The event format calls for anywhere from six to 10 gymnasts to perform on each apparatus, and it gives the team an opportunity to close out fall practice in an atmosphere and environment like that of a regular-season meet.

LSU cheerleaders, Mike the Tiger and the Bengal Brass Band will all be in attendance to entertain fans throughout the event.

Season tickets will be available for sale throughout the event, and fans can purchase at a cost of $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 3-12. Fans can also buy season tickets online at or over the phone by calling the LSU Ticket Office at 225-578-2184.

“We will mark the seats that aren’t yet sold as season tickets because we’ve had a record sale of our tickets and we want people that come regularly but don’t have season tickets to realize it is a better deal to have season tickets than to buy individually every time you come,” Breaux said. “You’ll be guaranteed a good seat.”

Season ticket holders who attend Gymnastics 101 will receive a free “Holy Cow” t-shirt.

For those who cannot attend the event, Gymnastics 101 will be streamed live by SEC Network+. Fans can watch the Tigers in action by accessing the online digital platform at and using the WatchESPN app available on all smartphones and tablet devices. The direct link to watch the event is
