BATON ROUGE – After having one of the best seasons by a freshman kicker in LSU history, sophomore Colby Delahoussaye was one of 30 players named to the 2014 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Watch List, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Wednesday.

Delahoussaye set the LSU record for successful field goals to open a career with nine straight, breaking the previous mark of seven held by David Browndyke in 1986.

He made an instant impact in his first game for the Tigers as he nailed all three field goal attempts in LSU’s 37-27 victory over TCU in the 2013 season opener.

A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, Delahoussaye finished the 2013 season 13-of-14 in field goals, including a season-long 49 yarder at Georgia, and 56-of-57 in point-after touchdowns.

Delahoussaye, a semifinalist for the Groza Award last season, is one of seven kickers on the 2014 watch list who ended last season with a field goal conversion rate of 90 percent or higher. Delahoussaye earned a 92.9 percentage after finishing 13-of-14.

Accomplishments are tabulated throughout the season, and the award will announce its 20 semifinalists on Nov. 6. From that list, a panel of head coaches, SIDs, media members and former Groza finalists will select the top three finalists for the award on Nov. 24.

That same group will select the national winner who will be announced on Dec. 11 during the Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN.
