BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU junior infielder Conner Hale was named Monday as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week by the league office.

Hale, a native of New Port Richey,  Fla., hit .583 (7-for-12) in the Tigers’ games last week with one double, one homer, two RBI, eight runs scored and a .643 on-base percentage. In LSU’s SEC series victory at No. 10 Ole Miss, Hale hit .625 (5-for-8) with one double, one homer, one RBI, five runs scored and a .667 on-base percentage.

In the Tigers’ Game 1 win over the Rebels on Thursday, Hale went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and three runs scored. He doubled with one out in the top of the 13th inning in a 3-3 game and later scored the eventual winning run in a 4-3 victory.

In LSU’s Game 3 win on Saturday, Hale was 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored. His solo homer to lead off the eighth inning against Ole Miss pitcher Sam Smith extended LSU’s  lead from 1-0 to 2-0 and broke Smith’s streak of retiring Tiger hitters at 10 in a row.

Of the seven total runs scored by LSU in the series at Ole Miss, five were scored by Hale.
