BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU junior right-hander Aaron Nola was named Monday as the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week by the league office.

Nola, a Baton Rouge native, increased his consecutive innings streak without allowing an earned run to 53 as he fired eight scoreless innings in a win over Purdue on Friday. Nola limited the Boilermakers to just two singles in eight innings while recording 101 pitches.

He walked none and established a career-high with 12 strikeouts while allowing no Purdue hitter to advance beyond first base.

Nola last allowed an earned run on May 23, 2013 against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament. He is 4-0 this season with a 0.00 ERA in 27 innings, and he’s recorded only two walks with 36 strikeouts and a .121 opponents’ batting average.

Nola also earned SEC Pitcher of the Week honors two weeks ago after working seven hitless innings in a victory over Virginia Tech on February 21.
