QB Zach Mettenberger

On his opinion of Florida’s athletic defense…
“I think Florida has a combination of both athleticism and great schemes. They have a great defensive coordinator, but they also have tremendous athleticism on the defensive side of the ball. They have big guys that can run, linebackers that can cover and corners that cover very well. We will have our opportunities to be man on man with the defense and hopefully we can score more times than not against them.”

On if his seasons record setting pace causes any distractions…
“You are only as successful as your next game. If I go out Saturday against Florida and finish with a lot of incompletions and two interceptions, I will be considered a terrible player again in the medias eyes. I think all of our mindsets are to go out there and play hard, continue to get better and come home with a win.”

On how much his confidence has increased since last year’s Florida game…
“I think from the standpoint of being a second year player in the college football system that I have now seen a lot and I have played a lot of games. I know not only myself, but a lot of guys on the team are better players and more confident from last game.”

S Corey Thompson

On the second half against Mississippi State…
“It gives us a lot of confidence going in to the next game. In the second half, we tackled a lot better and we came to play. We just have to make sure we play better than we did in the first half. We have to play our assignment and fundamentally sound.”

On defense being a big factor…
“We have to keep them out of the end zone and give our offense the best opportunity to score and make plays. It’s important to wrap up and make tackles because they can make some plays.”

On the rivalry with Florida…
“It’s a rivalry and we have to make sure we come to play. On defense, we have to make tackles and plays to give our offense a chance to win.”

DT Anthony Johnson

On newcomers…
“The new guys now are up to speed on the game. Rashard Robinson and Tre’Davious White are being put in at corner and are having great games. Up front, Christian LaCouture and Quentin Thomas are being put up front and are making great plays. We’ll see how far it takes us.”

On guys stepping up…
Kwon Alexander is stepping up and doing great things at the linebacker position. Deion Jones is another guy who will be a great one for LSU. Kendell Beckwith can come it anytime and he’s already showing how good he can be.”
