Shalini Gogawale enters her third year on the LSU volleyball staff as the Director of Operations for the indoor and sand programs. She is involved in all facets of the programs and her responsibilities include team travel, budget, travel, equipment and camps. She also serves as the program’s liaison to several departments.
Gogawale joined the Tigers with five years of operations experience most recently a one-year stint with the women’s lacrosse program at the University of Michigan. She was instrumental in creating and implementing many aspects of the program’s operational day-to-day structure in preparation for the Wolverines inaugural 2013-14 season.
Gogawale’s previous experience in volleyball came at the University of Florida during the 2010 and 2011 seasons where she was responsible for all behind-the-scenes tasks for the program which included day-to-day office operations, team travel, ordering and distribution of equipment, game day responsibilities, assisting with recruiting correspondence and NCAA compliance in regards to recruiting, and was also the liaison to the programs booster club, the Gator Attack Club. She also oversaw the volleyball budget and supervised the student manager staff and operations assistants. Beyond her duties as the director of operations, she also served as the Gators' Director of Volleyball Camp Operations, which saw over 1,500 youth participants. She was responsible for up to six camps per summer and handled logistics for all camps.
Prior to her time at Florida, Gogawale spent one year as the Assistant Director of Women's Basketball Operations at Oregon State University from 2009-10. She assisted with all operations for the Beavers, including day-to-day office operations, film exchange, video operations, team manager supervision and also served as the liaison between the marketing and women's basketball offices.
In 2009, Gogawale got her start in operations while working with the women's basketball program at the University of California. There, she handled the day-to-day office operations and assisted with the program's recruiting database, budget, camps and special events.
Before getting her start in operations, she was an Assistant Tutorial Coordinator at Cal from 2008-2009, where she developed and monitored quiet study programs with 20 undergraduate monitors under her supervision. She also worked as a Student-Athlete Development Intern at Cal from 2007-08. In that position, she assisted student-athletes with career development and supervised over 60 student-athletes in the department's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
From 2006-07, Gogawale served as a Diversity and Inclusion Intern for the NCAA in Indianapolis, Ind. In this role, she researched various issues about diversity in the work environment and she assisted with the planning and execution of several leadership institutes and conferences.
The Shorewood, Ill., native earned a bachelor's degree in sociology in May 2006 from Southern Illinois University, where she was a member of the Salukis' cross country and track teams. As an undergraduate, she also served as an Athletics Financial Aid Coordinator and Compliance Assistant. Upon graduation from SIU, she was awarded the NCAA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship. Gogawale went on to earn a master's of arts degree in education from the University of California in May 2009.
