LSU Establishes Fund to Assist Jasmine Nelson
BATON ROUGE – The Nelson Fund has been established to assist former LSU women’s basketball student-athlete Jasmine Nelson whose mother passed away from ALS earlier this week. All donations will help Nelson with the burial and funeral services and go directly to the funeral home.
Under NCAA rules, LSU is allowed to accept financial gifts and manage an account to assist Nelson. Per NCAA rules, all contributions of any kind must go through this fund. Donors need to be aware that financial contributions to this fund are not tax deductible and not eligible for LSU Priority Points.
Those interested in making donations to the Nelson Fund can go online to Tiger Athletic Foundation at https://lsutaf.org/nelsonfund/ and contribute. Checks can also be mailed to:

Baton Rouge, LA 70821
Donations can also be made in person on the sixth floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building. LSU is seeking to raise $7,500 through the Nelson Fund to assist in all of the burial services.
Nelson, a native of New Orleans, lettered for the Lady Tigers from 2009-11. She played in 30 games and was a member of LSU’s 2010 NCAA Tournament team. She earned her degree from LSU in December 2011. Nelson prepped at McDonough 35 in New Orleans and led her team to back-to-back state championships in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Nelson and her mother lost their home during the storm and were forced to evacuate to three different states ranging from Tennessee, California and Texas. Nelson’s mother, Fayetta, passed away at the age of 53 earlier this week after battling ALS since 2010.
