Two Chosen for 2013 N4A Professional Development Institute

BATON ROUGE - CCACSA Assistant Director for Diversity, Inclusion and Civic Engagement, Jade Bryan, and Ashley Pregeant, CCACSA learning specialist, were selected by N4A for the 2013 Professional Development Institute.

CCACSA Director of Student Affairs Walt Holliday nominated Bryan.

"We are very excited to have Jade represent LSU at the 2013 N4A Professional Development Institute," Holliday said. "Jade is a tremendous asset to our program and her passion to help others and the community is contagious. Jade's future is extremely bright. Without a question, she will continue to grow and leave her mark in this profession"

Bryan will be participating in the PDI New Practitioner track. The New Practitioner track is comprised of a series of interconnected intensive and interactive sessions facilitated by seasoned practitioners who are dedicated to the professional growth and career advancement of individuals serving student-athletes on university and college campuses.

"I am honored to be selected to represent LSU at the 2013 N4A Professional Development Institute," Bryan said. "Having this opportunity to continue to grow and develop as a new practitioner in the field means a lot to me. I am looking forward to meeting other professionals while gaining new knowledge and skills that will ultimately improve my work with student-athletes."

CCACSA Director of Student Affairs Mike Mallet nominated Pregeant.

"Ashley is an outstanding up-and-coming young professional who will benefit greatly from this experience," Mallet said. "Her knowledge combined with the knowledge and experience she will gain from the N4A Professional Development Institute will enhance her professional abilities for the future."

Pregeant will be participating in the PDI Learning Specialist track. Through this track, the PDI seeks to ascertain and enhance knowledge about the knowledge, skills attributes owned by professionals serving student-athletes having exceptional abilities requiring unique learning accommodations. This track was created and intentional designed to train and meet the professional development needs of individuals desiring to advance their craft in delivering programs and services to this unique student-athlete population, coaches and various campus stakeholders.

"I am very excited about being accepted into the PDI this year," Pregeant said. "In my role as a learning specialist, I am constantly looking for new and meaningful ways to help my student-athletes academically. I look forward to learning from talented colleagues from across the country." 

The PDI was created with the vision to provide an innovative professional development experience for individuals seeking to excel in the field of student-athlete support services. 

The 2013 new practitioner, leader/manager and learning specialist tracks of the PDI will be offered in conjunction with the N4A Convention in Jacksonville, Fla.
