BATON ROUGE - LSU softball head coach Beth Torina announced Wednesday that Allison Falcon, Katie Guillory and Rachele Fico will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2013 season.

Falcon, a redshirt junior infielder from Donaldsonville, bounced back in a big way with a breakout season after missing most of the 2011 season due to injury. She was second on the team in batting average, home runs and RBIs during LSU's run to the 2012 Women's College World Series.

"Allison is flat out a worker," Torina said. "She's the field general, and the brains of the operation.  She controls the infield, sets our entire defense and things seem to run like clockwork when Allison is on the field. She's someone that gets along with all her teammates and is able to cheer up people when they are down with her great sense of humor."

A senior pitcher from Oxford, Conn., Fico has collected 54 career victories fueled by 22 shutouts during her three seasons with the Tigers. The right-hander was the sixth player in program history to notch NFCA All-America First-Team accolades last season and is 35 strikeouts away from becoming the fifth member of LSU's 600 career Ks club.

"Rachele sets the tone for this entire program through her work ethic, her effort and her determination," Torina said. "She has started to speak up more at times. Due to her resume, when Rachele speaks her teammates listen. Everyone knows that they can count on her to give her all for this program, all of the time."

Guillory, a redshirt senior outfielder from Lafayette, has appeared in 77 career games being used primarily as a pinch runner. She missed the entire 2012 season due to injury and will be in the mix to see time in the outfield this season.

"Katie is the vocal leader for the team and this year's class of captains," Torina said. "She truly is the heart of this program. There is a huge difference in the way our team prepares and performs when Katie is around. This was more than obvious when we got to have her back in our dugout during last season's postseason run. She works so hard herself, but she also pushes the others to expect the same effort in their own performance."

LSU is nine days away from 2013 opening weekend where the Tigers will play host to Hampton, No. 22 North Carolina, Purdue and Tulsa as part of the Tiger Classic from February 8-10.

Season tickets can be purchased for $75 at www.LSUtix.net for a marquee home schedule that features 15 games against 2012 NCAA Tournament participants. The Tigers also will welcome defending national champion Alabama along with Kentucky, Missouri and South Carolina for three-game SEC series.
