Women's Tennis Wraps Up Day 1 at Clemson Indoor

CLEMSON, S.C. - The LSU women's tennis team completed the first day of competition at the Clemson Indoor Classic with wins in both singles and doubles.

The Lady Tigers competed against both Charleston Southern University and Clemson University in singles, and they took on Kansas University in doubles play.

Competing against both Charleston Southern and Clemson in singles were No. 112 ranked Kaitlin Burns, Caroline Hudson, Mary Jeremiah, Ariel Morton and Ella Taylor. Senior Keri Frankenberger battled Charleston Southern's Angelica Sidorenko, and senior Ebie Wilson faced Tristen Dewar of Clemson.

LSU took victories in four out of six matches against Charleston Southern, and freshman Caroline Hudson notched a 6-1, 6-4 win over Clemson's Carola Pederzani. Both freshman Ella Taylor and sophomore transfer Mary Jeremiah battled top 100 players in their spring season debut as Tigers, as Taylor competed against No. 69 Romy Koelzer of Clemson, and Jeremiah took on the No. 77 ranked player, Clemson's Beatrice Gumulya.

The Caroline Hudson/Ebie Wilson duo competed for the first time together and won in doubles over Kansas University's Haley Fournier and Claire Dreyer 8-4.

Doubles competition will continue Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT when the Lady Tigers take on Charleston Southern and Clemson at 10:30 a.m. CT. Singles play will follow at 2:30 p.m. when the team faces Kansas University.
