Gymnastics Travels to Dual Meet at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The fifth-ranked LSU gymnastics team will hit the road for the first time in 2013 as the Tigers travel to face No. 6 Alabama in a dual meet at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday in Coleman Coliseum.

Live audio will be available free of charge inside the Geaux Zone at www.lsusports.net/live starting at 7:25 p.m. Mike Smith, Ashleigh Clare-Kearney and Sara Pollock will call all the action in the Geaux Zone.

The meet will be televised on a tape delay basis with the first air date on ESPNU set for Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. and the first date on ESPN2 set for Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.

LSU (2-0, 1-0 SEC) enters the meet with a 196.475 average after scoring the highest team total in the league with a 196.875 last week against Florida. Alabama (1-0, 1-0) opened its season last week with a 196.450-192.025 win at Missouri.

"The team is eager to get on the road and compete at a great venue at Alabama," LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. "We are expecting to see consistency in this meet, and I believe this team has learned to rely on each other and make it a true team effort. It has been a fun week in the practice gym, and we are ready to get out there and compete."

The Tigers are looking to build on last week's 196.875 score in a win over Florida after posting a season-opening record high 196.075 versus North Carolina State.

Lloimincia Hall is the reigning SEC Gymnast of the Week after she tied her career high and helped clinch the victory over Florida with a 39.450, including a 9.95 on floor and a career-best tying 9.875 on beam.

Rheagan Courville, who finished third in the all-around last week with a 39.425, enters the meet at Alabama ranked third nationally in the all-around with a 39.463 average, and she is ranked third on floor with a 9.938 average. Hall is ranked 10th in the all-around with a 39.350 average, and she is No. 2 nationally on floor with a 9.95 average.

After scoring 9.90's on vault and bars against the Gators, Sarie Morrison is ranked eighth nationally on vault with a 9.90 average and No. 14 on bars with a 9.863 mark.

The Tigers have also counted on scores from Kaleigh Dickson, Mckenzie Fox, Ericka Garcia, Jessie Jordan, Maliah Mathis, Jessica Savona and Randii Wyrick.

In its opener last week, Alabama was led by junior Kim Jacob who won the all-around title with a 39.275, and she also captured the beam title with a 9.90 and floor crown with a 9.875.
