BATON ROUGE - LSU students are invited to take part in the revealing of the "Roar Corps", a new basketball student group, during Saturday's SEC home opener against No. 11 Florida.
The "Roar Corps" will continue to sit in sections 119, 225 and 338 which will be known as the "Roar Zone". Prior to the game, the Acme Student Lounge will be open on the east side's outer upper concourse of the Maravich Center.
Students who attend the South Carolina game on January 16 and sit in the purple bench seats of the "Roar Zone" located in section 119 will receive a "Roar Corps" t-shirt.
"When I used to come out that tunnel, (the noise) would never stop," head coach Johnny Jones said. "That band would crank up and that cheering section would starting going, you would be numb. That's what we have to get back to. We look forward to unveiling out new student section against Florida and hearing our fans respond when we take the floor."
Saturday's tip time is slated for 3 p.m. from the Maravich Center, and the game will be carried live by ESPNU. An online version of the telecast will be available via the Watch ESPN app and ESPN3.com.
The LSU Sports Radio Network also will broadcast the game on Eagle 98.1 FM in the Baton Rouge area and inside the Geaux Zone at www.LSUsports.net/live. Jim Hawthorne, Ricky Blanton and Kevin Ford will call the action.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.LSUtix.net or by calling the LSU Athletics Ticket Office at (225) 578-2184. Saturday marks the program's annual "Gold Game" and all fans in attendance will be given a "Geaux Gold or Geaux Home" gold t-shirt.
