ATLANTA - Leading into Thursday's Chick-fil-A Bowl practice session at the Georgia Dome, head coach Les Miles and 22 LSU football players which included Odell Beckham Jr., La'el Collins, Michael Ford, James Hairston, Jarvis Landry and Bennie Logan stopped by the Children's Hospital at Scottish Rite.

The Tigers spent an hour inside "The Zone" where they interacted with the children by playing air hockey, video games and decorating their own LSU mini helmets.

Landry spent a majority of his time with Jacob, a 10-year old from nearby Douglasville, Ga., who has spent the past five days in the hospital. They sat across from each other and shared a few laughs while decorating their mini helmets.

"It's really important to me, and it's a humbling experience to spend time with these kids," Landry said. "I feel that community service is a big thing for us. When you have that spotlight on you, I guess you can say in a sense, there's nothing like sharing it. Having the opportunity to be blessed and the ability to change a kid's life, it's really important and means a lot to me."

The dedicated play area was donated to the children's hospital by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, country music singer Garth Brooks and the Teammates for Kids Foundation.

"When kids come down to The Zone, it's an area for them to completely be themselves," Juliet Veal, the Zone's Coordinator for Family Services, said. "They don't have to worry about why they're in the hospital, and how long they'll be here. It's also an important place for parents to see their kids having fun. It's really cool to see the kids smile and laugh and be regular kids doing regular stuff."

LSU will meet No. 14 Clemson on New Year's Eve at 6:30 p.m. CT inside the Georgia Dome. The game will be televised unopposed on ESPN. Both teams enter the game with identical 10-2 records as LSU will be looking for its sixth season of at least 11 wins under Miles.
