BATON ROUGE - LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium has been recognized as the 2012 Outdoor Track Facility of the Year by the American Sports Builders Association as part of its annual awards program for facilities built by ASBA members that best exemplify construction excellence.
Mondo USA, Inc., spearheaded the construction and resurfacing of the Bernie Moore Track Stadium in an extensive renovation project to the facility in 2010 and 2011.
The facility most recently played host to the 2012 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to kick off the postseason a year ago. The Lady Tigers captured their third-straight SEC Outdoor team championship and fifth in six seasons with a dominating performance on their home track. The Tigers captured a runner-up finish in the final men's team standings with their performance at the SEC Outdoor meet.
The ASBA is a national organization for builders and suppliers for materials for athletic facilities. Awards are presented as part of its annual program in a variety of categories, including tennis courts, running tracks, sports fields, track and field facilities and indoor multi-purpose field houses.
Mondo USA, Inc., received its award for the 2012 Outdoor Track Facility of the Year at the recent ASBA Technical Meeting held in Orlando, Fla. Projects are scored individually based on considerations such as layout and design, site work, drainage, base construction, surface, amenities, innovation and overall impression. Winning entries are those whose cumulative scores meet or exceed the standard.
