BATON ROUGE - LSU men's tennis coach Jeff Brown announced Friday the Tigers have signed three players during the early signing period.

Justin Butsch from Bradenton, Fla., and Hobie Hotard from New Orleans signed national letters of intent, while Eric Perez from Center Valley, Penn., signed an SEC aid agreement because he will enroll in January.

Butsch is rated as a five-star recruit and the nation's No. 48 player by Tennis Recruiting Network, and he trains at Hugo Armando Tennis Academy in Bradenton.

"Justin's a super energetic kid who loves LSU," Brown said. "He is excited about coming here, and we are excited to have him. He's the type of kid you want because you catch them on their way up. His best tennis is in front of him, and he is continually getting better."

Hotard is ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 2 player in the state of Louisiana according to Tennis Recruiting Network. He is the three-time reigning state singles champion, and he has also led Jesuit High School to three straight team state titles.

"Hobie's a great kid from a great family," Brown said. "He is a good student with high quality character, and we will see him do great things for us."

Perez will enroll early at LSU and redshirt during the 2013 season. He compiled an 87-7 singles record at Southern Lehigh High School, winning three straight singles district titles as well as a doubles championship.

"Eric is the son of a former teammate of mine, Fernando, one of the all-time winningest LSU tennis players," Brown said. "Eric comes in with a great upside. He has only started focusing on tennis exclusively for a few years, and he has developed quickly. We are excited about his future with the team."

Perez follows in his father's footsteps by signing with the Tigers as his father, Fernando, excelled during his time at LSU, earning back-to-back singles All-America honors in 1984 and 1985.
