BATON ROUGE - For the 10th time in school history LSU has been chosen as a host site for an NCAA Gymnastics Regional meet, the NCAA announced Thursday.
LSU was selected as one of the host teams for the 2014 NCAA Regionals along with Arkansas, Georgia, Minnesota, Penn State and Washington.
The regional will take place April 5, 2014 in the Maravich Center and will feature six teams, including LSU.
"Being able to host the NCAA Regional is incredibly important," LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. "We haven't hosted it since 2008, and that was the first year we made it into the Super Six. Hosting the regional was a pivotal competition for us to make it.
"When you host your kids know exactly what to expect out of the environment, the equipment and the arena because everything is like a regular-season home meet. We anticipate a great season this year, and it will be a real springboard for us into the 2014 season and the regional."
LSU was also chosen as a regional host in 1986, 1988, 1993, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008, and the Tigers have captured the regional title four times as a host.
LSU continues preparations for the 2013 season that opens Jan. 4 against North Carolina State in the Maravich Center.
Season tickets are available at a cost of $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 3-12, and season tickets can be purchased by visiting www.LSUtix.net, calling the Athletics Ticket Office at 225-578-2184 or in person at the ticket office on the first floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building.
