BATON ROUGE - LSU football players Zach Mettenberger, Barkevious Mingo and James Hairston paid a visit to a local children's hospital Thursday to spend time with patients.
They stopped in to see the kids in the playroom and then went room to room to meet with children and their families.
"The children's spirit inspired us," Hairston said. "We will take that motivation and apply it our lives on and off the field."
The players enjoyed their time with the children while hoping to provide encouragement to both the kids and their families.
"We had a wonderful visit today with the players," said Lauren Lawrence, stepsister of one of the patients. "My stepbrother was really surprised, and his smile never left his face during the visit."
The Tigers travel to College Station, Texas on Friday and will take on Texas A&M Saturday at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
