BATON ROUGE - The LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels will renew one of the most competitive rivalries in the Southeastern Conference this weekend as the squads will square off against one another on the pitch on Friday night at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

The Tigers (6-7-4, 2-6-2 SEC) are looking to snap a two-game losing skid in the league as they continue a four-game road swing in SEC play in Oxford, Miss., on Friday night.

And they will do so against a surging Ole Miss (12-5, 5-5) club that is riding a three-game winning streak in SEC play, including a road sweep of Vanderbilt and South Carolina a week ago.

The Tigers own a four-game unbeaten streak in the series with a 2-0-2 mark against the Rebels since 2008 as they have sandwiched wins in the first round of the 2008 SEC Tournament and 2011 regular season around back-to-back scoreless draws in 2009 and 2010. The Tigers and Rebels have actually played to a draw four times in seven meetings dating back to the 2006 regular season.

The Tigers earned a 3-2 come-from-behind victory in their last meeting with the Rebels in a match played at the LSU Soccer Stadium in Baton Rouge a season ago.

Fans can follow all the action during Friday's match through LSU's social media websites as live updates of the contest are available by liking LSU Soccer on Facebook and following @LSUSoccer on Twitter. Fans are also invited to join the live in-game chat on the team's official Facebook page.

The Rebels feature a potent offensive attack with 38 goals scored on the campaign to rank second this fall on the SEC's scoring list. They are led by the 1-2 punch of sophomore striker Rafaelle Souza with a team-leading 11 goals and junior striker Mandy McCalla with 10 goals on the year.

Ole Miss has proven especially tough to beat on its home field during the 2012 season as the Rebels boast a 7-2 home mark while splitting four SEC matches at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium this year.

After battling the Rebels on Friday night, the Tigers will make their first trip to Columbia, Mo., Sunday to face the 16th-ranked Missouri Tigers in a match that is set to kick off at 1 p.m. CT. LSU will then wrap up the 2012 regular season on the night of Thursday, Oct. 25, when the team returns home to play host to the Arkansas Razorbacks at the LSU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
