BATON ROUGE - The second year of the Nikki Caldwell era begins for the LSU women's basketball team on Tuesday as the Lady Tigers will hold their first official practice of the season at 1 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

In conjunction with the official beginning of basketball season, ticket books for the 2013 NCAA Women's Basketball First and Second Rounds to be held at the Maravich Center on March 24 and 26 are now on sale. Tickets can be purchased at, by calling (225) 578-2184 or in person at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office on the first floor of the Athletic Administration Building.

Between now and December 31, all-session ticket books for the 2013 NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds are $15. LSU is playing host to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Lady Tigers held an annual tradition on Monday on the eve of the first practice with the "Tiger Olympics" between the staff and players. The team bonding event consisted of the following events: softball home run derby, tire flipping, egg relay, tug-o-war, football long toss, dodgeball and sumo wrestling.

Caldwell guided the Lady Tigers to an NCAA second round appearance in her first season. The Lady Tigers return three starters and six letterwinners from a squad that posted its highest win total (23) since the 2008 Final Four season.

Leading the way will be senior guard Adrienne Webb. Webb played a pivotal part of LSU's late season success when she was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Tournament Team and buried a game-winning shot to beat Arkansas in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Webb is anxious to start her senior campaign.

"We are ready and are hungry," said Webb. "We have worked extremely hard this season. For me personally, I have worked on becoming a better student of the game by watching more film. I wanted to see why certain things happen in a game, why this player was open, why that cut was made. It's paying more attention to detail."

"You can expect to see a little of everything from us this year. We have some talented scorers and defenders on this team."

LSU will have to replace five seniors from a year ago, including two-time All-SEC forward LaSondra Barrett. As one of only two seniors, Webb will take more of leadership role on the 10-member squad.

"We had five seniors who were great leaders," said Webb, who put up 9.9 points per game as a junior. "This program has always had a legacy of great leaders, and I want to take on that role since this is my last year at LSU."

The Lady Tigers officially open the season against Wichita State on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Maravich Center.
