TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The 25th-ranked LSU men's tennis team had no problem taking care of Alabama Friday, rolling over the Tide 5-0 at the Alabama Tennis Facility in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

LSU (8-3, 2-1 SEC) took it to the Crimson Tide early, clinching the doubles point and moving on to take all of their singles matches.

The 39th-ranked Tiger duo of senior Neal Skupski and sophomore James Turbervill got the ball rolling for the Tigers, finishing off Alabama's Vikram Reddy and Carlos Taborga with a game-winning ace by Turbervill to give the Tigers an 8-3 win.

On the top court, Alabama's Jarryd Botha and Ricky Doverspike were able to hold against LSU's 38th-ranked Olivier Borsos and Chris Simpson, taking the match 8-5.

With the doubles matches split at one a piece, the doubles point came down to court three. LSU's Roger Anderson and Stefan Szacinksi fought off two match points against Alabama's David Vieyra and Michael Thompson to come back and win the match 9-8 (7), giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Tigers did not let up, putting together one of their most impressive singles performances of the season.

Junior Stefan Szacinski was the first Tiger to pick up a singles win, knocking off Reddy in straight-set fashion, extending LSU's lead to 2-0.

On court two, Skupski took the first set easily, but had to battle with Alabama's Botha to take the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (3).

Sitting comfortably with a 3-0 lead, LSU's James Turbervill tacked on a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 victory over Vieyra to clinch the match in LSU's favor.

Meanwhile on court five, senior Tom Knights was wrapping up play at the same time, putting away Taborga 6-3, 7-5, finalizing the score at 5-0.

Both Borsos and Simpson did not finish their matches.

"After getting the doubles point, we really came together as a team and put together one of our best singles performances all season," head coach Jeff Brown said. "I am really proud of how our guys played today. It was a great team effort."

The Tigers will now load the bus and head east to take on the Auburn Tigers on Sunday. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. CT.
