BATON ROUGE - No. 7 LSU (11-1) plays host to Sacred Heart (4-3) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Alex Box Stadium.

Live video, audio and stats of the game may be accessed in the Geaux Zone at www.LSUsports.net/HDbaseball. The game can be also be heard on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network.

LSU is ranked No. 7 this week in the Collegiate Baseball magazine poll, and the Tigers are No. 8 in the USA Today/ESPN ranking.

The Tigers suffered their first setback of the season on Sunday, an 8-7 loss to Princeton that ended LSU's 11-game win streak. LSU trailed Princeton 8-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before staging a furious rally that fell just short as the Ivy League club held on for the win.

"The first loss is always hard to take, because in the back of my mind I always think maybe we can be the first college baseball team to go 56-0," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "Of course, that's never going to happen, but we certainly aspire to win every game we play. We're looking forward to facing a tough Sacred Heart team that just won two of four games at Southeastern."

Sacred Heart, located in Fairfield, Conn. and a member of the Northeast Conference, defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 5-3, on Monday night in Hammond to earn a split of the four-game set.

Mainieri said that junior right-hander Tyler Jones (2-0) will start on the mound Wednesday for the Tigers.  Jones, a native of Milwaukee, Wisc.,  will make his third start this season.

Sacred Heart coach Nick Giaquinto is expected to counter with senior right-hander Mike Korevec (0-0), who will make his first start of the season.

LSU sophomore designated hitter Raph Rhymes led the Tigers at the plate in the Princeton series, batting .417 (5-for-12) with two doubles, one homer, two RBI and five runs. Rhymes has a team-best 16 RBI this season, and he is hitting .388 (19-for-49) on the year with seven doubles, one homer and 11 runs scored.

Junior right-hander Matty Ott has a chance this week to become LSU's all-time saves leader. Ott earned his second save of the season and the 29th save of his career last Wednesday versus Mississippi Valley State, tying Rick Greene (1990-92) as LSU's all-time saves leader. Ott worked a perfect ninth inning against MVSU with one strikeout to earn the record-tying save.

LSU sophomore right-hander Kevin Berry has worked six perfect innings in seven relief appearances this season. He has recorded no walks and four strikeouts, and he recorded his first save of the season Saturday against Princeton. Berry blanked Princeton for 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.

Sacred Heart is batting .309 as a team through its first seven games this season, though the Pioneers have yet to hit a home run. SHU is led at the plate by junior first baseman Rob Griffith, who is hitting .464 (13-for-28) with one double, one triple and seven RBI.

The LSU-Sacred Heart matchup marks the first time the Tigers will face a member of the Northeast Conference, a league that also includes Monmouth, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Wagner, Mount St. Mary's, Quinnipiac, Long Island and Fairleigh Dickinson.
