KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. - The No. 45 LSU men's tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend at the Key Biscayne Invitational by sweeping all four of its doubles matches against 40th-ranked Denver and splitting its singles matches with No. 25 Michigan on Sunday.
Gauthier took down Michigan's Barrett Franks in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, for his third singles win of the weekend. Borsos clinched his third win by defeating Michigan's Shaun Bernstein 6-3, 6-4, and Anderson finished off Duncan Muil 6-3, 4-6, (10-8) for his third victory in as many chances.
Earlier in the day, senior Sebastian Carlsson teamed up with doubles partner Neal Skupski and made quick work of Denver's Jens Vorkefeld and Andrew Landwerlen 8-1. The Tiger tandem, ranked 27th in the nation, went unbeaten on the weekend, including a big win over the fifth-ranked Texas pair of Jean Anderson and Ed Corrie.
"We had a lot of great matches this weekend," LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. "It was good for the guys to get together and play as a team. We got some good practice in, and the heat really helped us with conditioning. It was great weather and overall a great event for us."
The three-day, round-robin tournament was the first action for the Tigers in more than two months. Next up for LSU is the SEC Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Tennessee on Jan. 14-17.
