CLEVELAND - The LSU athletics department recorded a 19th-place finish in the annual Learfield Sports Directors' Cup released Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directories of Athletics (NACDA).

The Tigers garnered their fifth consecutive Top 20 finish dating back to the 2005-06 season. It marked the second time in program history that LSU has strung together five straight Top 20 finishes. The Tigers reeled off a sextet of Top 20 finishes from 1994-2000.

LSU recorded 824 total points and placed third among SEC schools behind Florida and Tennessee. The Tigers used a strong finishing kick as the track and field programs garnered a pair of sixth-place finishes to earn 73.5 points apiece at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

LSU also notched 45 points or more from nine other programs including women's basketball, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, men's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor track, soccer and volleyball.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- ten women's and ten men's. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA's Web site at
