BATON ROUGE - Thursday marked LSU Day at the Capitol and several head coaches, administrators and student-athletes attended the celebration on the steps of the landmark.

LSU women's basketball coach Van Chancellor, softball coach Yvette Girouard, volleyball coach Fran Flory and women's tennis coach Tony Minnis joined vice chancellor and director of athletics Joe Alleva and chancellor Dr. Michael Martin on the grounds of the state capitol.

Senior gymnasts Susan Jackson and Summer Hubbard also attended the celebration to take pictures with fans and enjoy the festivities.

The Senate and House of Representatives passed a resolution to honor LSU for its sesquicentennial as well as its nine national scholar students and Jackson, who captured LSU's first all-around national title at the NCAA Championships on April 22.

The Tiger Band, Golden Girls, cheerleaders and Mike the Tiger performed on the steps of the capitol while coaches, administrators and student-athletes took photos with state legislators and fans.
