For more than a decade, Bob Moore has consistently coached the Tigers to be one of the top vaulting lineups in the nation, and in the past five seasons he has shown his mastery of coaching the event.

Moore coached Susan Jackson to the 2008 NCAA vault national title, and he followed that up by coaching Ashleigh Clare-Kearney to the 2009 NCAA vault title while Jackson was the runner up - giving LSU back-to-back national titles in the event. On top of that, Moore guided three Tigers to First-Team All-America status on vault in 2009 - Clare-Kearney, Jackson and Staci Schwitkis.

In 2010, Moore guided Jackson to a second place finish on vault again, and he coached former walk-on Ashley Lee to a ninth place finish - giving LSU back-to-back years with two gymnasts in the national top 10.

With more than 30 years of outstanding coaching across the southeast, Moore received one of the highest honors in his profession by being inducted into the USA Gymnastics Region 8 Hall of Fame in 2011.

Regarded as one of the best vaulting coaches in the country, Moore has been recognized several times for his exceptional work. He was named the NCAA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2009, marking the third time he has received the distinguished award. Moore first earned the award in 2005, sharing it with fellow LSU assistant Philip Ogletree, and Moore also received the award in 2007.

A longtime Southeastern Conference assistant, Moore begins his 14th season with the LSU gymnastics program, and his presence has been undeniable. He has helped the Tigers maintain their status as one of the nation's premier programs that includes nine NCAA Championships appearances in the last 10 years, two Super Sixes in the last five seasons and seven individual national titles since 2002.

Moore's primary responsibility with the Tigers is vaulting where the team has flourished under his watch as the team has finished in the top 10 of the national rankings in the event eight of his 13 years at LSU, including four straight seasons from 2007-10.

In his 13 seasons at LSU, Moore has coached his athletes to 15 All-America honors on vault, two national titles, and two national runner up finishes. In fact, LSU's one-two finish on vault in 2009 marked only the fourth time in NCAA history that two gymnasts from the same team finished first and second in the vault national finals.

As well as strengthening the Tigers on the vault, Moore plays a significant role with LSU's Bengal Gymnastics program, a highly successful youth age group program that practices in the Tigers' gymnastics training facility.

Moore is also LSU's academic coordinator as he works closely with the gymnastics academic advisor to ensure each gymnast is on the right track each season. In Moore's 13 years with the team, LSU has produced 67 Scholastic All-Americans and 106 SEC Academic Honor Roll members.

Moore's expertise was fine tuned at two other SEC programs. Before joining the Tigers, Moore spent six years at the University of Florida where he served as the program's top assistant. To his credit, Moore coached two national champions on the vault, in addition to numerous All-Americans and SEC champions. And prior to his stint in Gainesville, Moore coached for five seasons as an assistant at Auburn.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Moore graduated from Samford University in 1976 with a degree in general studies with an emphasis in music. Bob is married to the former Sandra Ballard, and "Pops" and "Momme" are the proud grandparents of Isabella, Sophia, Trey and Brooklyn.
