BATON ROUGE -- Sean Payton, who guided the New Orleans Saints to within one victory of reaching the Super Bowl two years ago, will headline this year’s LSU Football Coaching Clinic, which starts on Thursday and runs through Saturday.
Payton, who was named the 2006 NFL Coach of the Year after guiding the Saints to their most successful season in franchise history, will address the group of coaches at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28 at the LSU Football Operations Center.
The 2008 clinic includes high school state championship coaches from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
Featured speakers from the LSU coaching staff include offensive coordinator Gary Crowton, co-defensive coordinator Doug Mallory, special teams coordinator Joe Robinson, and strength and conditioning coordinator Tommy Moffitt.
Registration for the clinic begins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 at LSU Football Operations Center. Following LSU’s football practice that day, LSU coach Les Miles will welcome the coaches at 7 p.m. at the football operations center followed by breakout sessions by position at 7:15.
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28 at the LSU Football Indoor Facility with the clinic beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a presentation on strength and conditioning by Moffitt.
Miles will address the group at 1:15 p.m. on Friday followed by Payton at 1:30.
The clinic concludes on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. with an LSU football scrimmage in Tiger Stadium.
