BATON ROUGE – For the third consecutive year, the LSU men’s tennis team has a pair ranked in the preseason doubles poll as tandem Gabor Csonka and Julian Saborio enter the year at No. 21, the ITA announced Tuesday.
Last season, the pair finished the year ranked at No. 80 in ITA Doubles after notching a 16-14 record, with nine wins in the dual season, seven coming from court two and two on the first court. They recorded three conference wins and defeated No. 19 Hunter Vaughn and Mate Cutura, 9-7, in the fall season to record their only ranked victory.
Csonka enters his senior season with the Tigers after garnering 11 singles victories last season, including three singles wins against ranked foes. After a promising freshman campaign, Saborio looks to build on his 11 wins on the last three courts as he begins his second season with the Tigers.
LSU begins the fall season with the John Breaux Cajun Classic at UL-Lafayette from September 22-24 at the Cajun Courts. The Tigers will return home after competing in the Commodore Scramble from September 29-October 1 in Nashville, Tennesse and will host the ITA Southern Regional from October 19-23 at the LSU Tennis Complex.
