Golfers Finish Fall at Carter Plantation

SPRINGFIELD, La. -- The LSU men’s golf team wrapped up the 2009 fall season Tuesday as three Tigers made the trip to Carter Plantation Golf Club in Springfield, La., to compete in the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University.

Sophomore Austin Gutgsell was LSU’s top performer during the competition as he tied for 25th place with a 54-hole score of 6-over par 222. After firing rounds of 3-over 75 and 4-over 76 during Monday’s action, Gutgsell fired a 1-under 71 in Tuesday’s final round to pace the Tigers.

Junior Clayton Rotz posted rounds of 3-over 75, 2-under 70 and 7-over 79 to finish in a tie for 29th with a three-round total of 8-over 224. Senior Brian Leveille posted a 54-hole score of 22-over 238 to tie for 62nd place, including rounds of 11-over 83, 8-over 80 and 3-over 75.

The Tigers return to action Feb. 13-14 when they kick off the spring campaign at the Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
