NEW YORK - Saturday was a much anticipated homecoming for LSU junior All-American Walter Henning as he competed in the same circle at the New Balance Track & Field Center in which he crushed the nation's best high school throwers in the junior weight throw week in and week out during a brilliant prep career at St. Anthony's High School in nearby Kings Park, N.Y.

NEW YORK - While junior Zedric Thomas may have surprised everyone but himself with a season-opening jump of 26 feet, 3 inches in the long jump at the Purple Tiger Invitational on Jan. 22, he surprised no one on Friday night at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational as he matched that performance to run away with his second long jump crown of the 2010 season.

BATON ROUGE - A championship atmosphere awaits the LSU track and field teams this weekend as they make their annual trip to the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York to compete in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

BATON ROUGE - LSU All-American Walter Henning was honored Tuesday for his record-setting performance this past weekend at the New Mexico Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center as he was named the Southeastern Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week.
