BATON ROUGE -- The LSU-Arkansas game in Little Rock on Friday will be played not only in front of a national audience on CBS, but also in front of a group of scouts representing some of the nation’s top bowl games.
Representatives from the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, and the Fiesta Bowl, all BCS bowl games, will be on hand, while scouts from the Capital One and Cotton Bowls will also attend the game.
Kickoff for the contest is set for 1:42 p.m. CST Friday on CBS.
The LSU-Arkansas contest is one of the top matchups in college football this weekend as it pits another all top 10 showdown. LSU enters the game ranked No. 8 in the nation and No. 10 in BCS Standings, while Arkansas is No. 5 in the polls and No. 6 in the BCS.
The teams have combined for a 19-3 overall mark this year with LSU going 9-2 and the Razorbacks 10-1. The teams also bring a combined winning streak of 15 games into Friday’s matchup in War Memorial Stadium.
This year’s LSU-Arkansas contest marks the first time both teams go into the game ranked in the top 10 and it’s only the second time both teams are ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation. The only other time both teams came into the game ranked was the 1947 Ice Bowl when No. 8 and No. 16 Arkansas froze their way to a scoreless tie in the Cotton Bowl.
The No. 5 ranking for the Razorbacks is their highest going into a game against the Tigers since the 1966 when unranked LSU stunned No. 2 ranked Arkansas, 14-7, in the Cotton Bowl.
