BATON ROUGE -- Former LSU women's tennis player Megan Falcon earned a spot at the US Open National Playoffs held in Palo Alto, Calif., at the Taub Family Tennis Stadium from July 28 through Aug. 1.

"This is a great opportunity for Megan. She did a great job by winning the sectional," said head coach Tony Minnis. "Hopefully she can continue playing well and qualify for the Open."

Falcon qualified for the tournament by winning the United States Tennis Association Missouri Sectional Qualifying Tournament in May.

The Alameda, Calif., native is No. 9 of 16 participants competing in the tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive a wild card in the US Open Qualifying Tournament.

The finals will be televised live at 5 p.m. CT Aug. 1 on the Tennis Channel.
